For arrivals of Japanese travelers in December 2007, Macau showed a large increase of 50% from the same period in the previous year and Singapore experienced an increase of 10%. In other Asia destinations, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam experienced an increase but only approximately 1%. On the other hand, Korea (-9.5%) had a decline from the same period in the previous year. Destinations other than in Asia, Hawaii (-3.8%) has continued into a fourth month of consecutive decline, Guam (-0.2%) also showed a fall into its second consecutive month and for Oceania, arrivals to Australia decreased by 8.3% and for New Zealand 13.7%.
Narita International Airport reported that the number of Japanese departures in December 2007 was 738,310 down by 2.3% from the same month of the year before. Kansai International Airport recorded 296,450, (-2.4%), and Central Japan International Airport 154,500, (+1.3%).

For December 2007, Japan experienced an increase of more than 10% of inbound travelers from many destinations. In Asia, the growth rate for Hong Kong (+31.4%), Singapore (+36.1%) and Thailand (+24.1%) was highest.
