Tourism Digital Transformation

Implementing Digital Solutions for Tourism Management

Starting from the region’s vision for tourism management, we provide comprehensive support—from designing decision-making metrics to data utilization, policy implementation, and operational standardization. We work closely with local stakeholders to implement digital transformation in tourism that goes beyond mere concepts—ensuring it is effectively applied on the ground and delivers tangible results.

Our Capabilities

Shaping the future of tourism destinations—from vision to implementation

To maximize the value of tourism destinations, introducing digital technology alone is not enough. It is essential to define a clear future vision, taking into account traveler trends as well as local challenges and strengths.
In some cases, non-digital approaches may be the optimal solution. At JTB Tourism Research & Consulting, we develop mid- to long-term digital transformation strategies for tourism by combining optimal approaches—including digital technologies—while leveraging research insights and data, all grounded in the destination’s vision. Furthermore, we collaborate with local stakeholders to provide integrated support across the entire process—from execution and operations to impact measurement and ecosystem development—helping to build a sustainable and value-enhancing future for tourism in partnership with the region.

Solutions & Approaches

Development and Implementation Support for Tourism Digital Transformation (DX) Strategies and Visions

Based on trends in tourist numbers, the current state and challenges of the region, and technological developments, we design medium- to long-term digital transformation strategies tailored to each destination. We provide end-to-end support—from analyzing the current situation to developing roadmaps, implementation and operation, and measuring results—to help destinations achieve sustainable and advanced management.

Strategy and Design Support for Tourism Digital Transformation Solutions

We organize and analyze the environment surrounding tourist destinations based on trends in visitor numbers, local challenges, and technological developments. We help develop medium- to long-term strategies from the perspective of the destination and support the design of systems that take a holistic view of the pre-implementation, implementation, and post-implementation phases of tourism DX solutions.

Digital Marketing Support

We combine real-world data on visitor flow and consumer spending with information from digital touchpoints to organize and visualize the metrics essential for making informed decisions about destination management. We provide support ranging from building data infrastructure to analysis and effectiveness verification, and by helping prioritize initiatives and identify areas for improvement, we contribute to enhancing the overall value and profitability of the destination.

Support for Developing Digital Talent in the Tourism Industry

We offer training programs and workshops designed to systematically teach the knowledge and skills required for tourism DX professionals. Participants will gain practical experience in data analysis, strategy development, and understanding trends in digital technology, and we will support regional governments and tourism businesses in establishing self-sustaining tourism DX frameworks.

Pilot Project for the Digitization of Coupons in Designated Inhabited Remote Island Areas

To help promote cashless payments and attract visitors to designated inhabited border islands, we conducted a pilot project using electronic coupons to assess their convenience for both businesses and users. By combining these findings with case studies of electronic coupon initiatives in other regions, we identified barriers to transitioning from paper coupons to electronic coupons in these designated inhabited border islands and proposed steps to facilitate this transition.
